G'Day everyone,
In a few weeks I'll be starting a 3 to 4 year-long walk to 49 of the 50 US states. Ill be carrying everything with me (tent, sleeping bag, toiletries, clothing, etc.) and walking on two-lane/back roads. My website has more details and specifics: www.becomethepath.com
Can any of you suggest or recommend roads or trails that I should try to walk, or try to avoid? Also, does anyone know of free or low-cost places to pitch a tent?
Thanks in advance!
Peace & Smiles,
Matua

Re: 4 year & 49 State Walk
Tue, April 22, 2008 - 7:10 PMWrite if you'll be in Western MA! We have a camp here where we'll feed ya and put you up. You can camp, or sleep in a cabin or our bunkhouse! We'd love to meet you! We're a group of 23 volunteers working on hiking trails in MA. Good luck! You're amazing!

Re: 4 year & 49 State Walk
Sun, June 29, 2008 - 12:27 PMi'll be on road bike-same backroad travellin'. there's plenty of space out there to set up camp one or 2 nites at a time. (i love crashing out in corn fields!) careful not to take too much with you, most of what you need is readily available. you got the right idea steering clear of the interstates and major highways. national parks and some state parks are a great route to go thru. they're like safe zones for travelers-true sanctuaries, especially the ones that are free entry. travel well!
